FAQs

What is CBD?

CBD is short for cannabidiol. It is just one of many different molecules known as cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. CBD has many beneficial properties and is commonly used to promote overall wellness.

What is CBD oil?

CBD oil is a natural oil which is extracted from the flowers and leaves of the cannabis plant. It is used by people all over the world for a variety of purposes.

Does your product contain THC?

Currently only 1 Better Conditions product contains THC (<0.3%) and that is our 1350mg Tropical CBD Oil (Full Spectrum). All other products are Broad Spectrum and show no detectable trace of THC (0.0%) on all lab reports. We use patented technology to remove any residual THC found in our hemp extract for our Broad Spectrum products.

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are active compounds produced by all cannabis plants. They account for most of the benefits of cannabis. Cannabinoids found in plants are technically called phytocannabinoids, while cannabinoids produced by the human body are called endocannabinoids. Cannabinoids interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS), which promotes homeostasis.

How does CBD work?

CBD’s effects are a result of its interaction with the endocannabinoid system. CBD impacts the ECS indirectly, most often through activation of outside receptors and interaction with enzymes.

What is hemp seed oil?

Hemp seed oil is distinct from CBD oil. While CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant’s flowers, hemp seed oil is produced by pressing the plant’s seeds. Hemp seed oil is similar to other seed oils such as corn oil and sesame oil. Hemp seed oil has its own benefits, but it does not contain cannabinoids such as CBD.

What is the difference between CBD and hemp?

Hemp is a variety of cannabis that is grown for food and fibers. CBD is a molecular compound found in the plant’s extracts. Better Conditions CBD is extracted from a proprietary strain of hemp known as PCR hemp, or phytocannabinoid-rich hemp. This proprietary strain is far richer in CBD and other cannabinoids and terpenes than the basic hemp plant used by most CBD producers.

Is your product safe?

There are no known incidences of illness caused by consumption of CBD oil. Also, all Better Conditions products undergo rigorous testing to guarantee they are free of any potential contaminants. See our lab results for more information.

What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?

Hemp and marijuana are both types of cannabis. Marijuana contains a cannabinoid known as THC, which causes a high and is known as a drug. Hemp contains negligible amounts of THC and is unlikely to cause a high. Our Broad Spectrum products undergo a patented process which removes all traces of THC from the final product, and our 1 Full Spectrum products contains <0.3% THC.

What is CBD used for?

Many people use CBD to support the body’s natural systems. Cannabinoids are an integral part of the human body’s ability to regulate and balance a wide variety of physiological systems. CBD is also used by some for specific purposes such as supporting a good night’s rest or maintaining well-functioning joints.

Are there traces of THC in CBD oil?

Raw hemp extract may contain small traces of THC, but our broad spectrum CBD oils are THC free and organic. Our full spectrum CBD oil contains <0.3% THC.

Can I see your lab reports?

Yes, our lab reports for each batch are posted on our website. Click here to see our most recent lab reports.

Why should I choose CBD over medical cannabis?

Medical cannabis is another term for medical marijuana. Marijuana contains high amounts of THC, which is a cannabinoid that causes a high. Medical cannabis can cause severe impairments. CBD is not psychotropic, meaning that it does not cause a high. It can be used while working, driving or undertaking any other physical activities such as exercise and sports. Even full spectrum CBD products containing a small and legal amount of CBD do not contain enough THC to produce a 'high'.

What does broad spectrum mean?

The term broad spectrum refers to CBD oil products that contain a combination of cannabinoids, terpenes and other beneficial compounds found in hemp. While many CBD oil products are made using CBD isolate, Better Conditions broad spectrum oils maintain concentrations of the beneficial compounds that are found in the original hemp plant. Our broad spectrum CBD oil products contain no detectable THC, as shown on our lab reports.

What does full spectrum mean?

Full spectrum CBD oil is very similar to broad spectrum CBD — the exception is that full spectrum oil usually retains the trace amounts of THC present in the hemp plant. Legally, though, this amount of THC must always be less than 0.3%.

Is broad spectrum CBD oil psychoactive?

No. Better Conditions Broad Spectrum CBD products are made with broad spectrum oils which have had traces of THC removed. Our products are unknown to and extremely unlikely to cause a high. View the lab reports for our broad spectrum products to see that there is no detectable trace of THC in these products.

Will I feel any effects from using CBD products?

Some of the effects reported by CBD oil users include improved mood, restful sleep, increased attention and focus and others. However, organic compounds such as CBD can produce different effects in different people. Your results may vary.

Can I overdose on CBD?

There is no record of anyone ever overdosing on CBD. CBD is completely non-toxic. Also, all of our lab reports show that our products have no detectable THC, with the exception of our 1 full spectrum product that contains <0.3% THC.

How much CBD should I be taking?

There is no right answer to this question - everyone's needs are different and the amount of CBD you need will depend on many aspects - such as, your body weight, your chemical makeup, what you are trying to treat, and the concentration of CBD in the product. Check out our blog to learn more about this topic. For most people, starting out with 20-40mg per day is a good place to start, increasing that daily amount by 5mg each week as needed.

What are the benefits of taking broad spectrum CBD products?

The benefits of broad spectrum products are usually greater than the benefits provided by others, such as those containing just CBD isolate. This is due to what’s known as the entourage effect. The entourage effect occurs when compounds in the hemp plant, including cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids, work together to produce even greater effects than just CBD alone. All Better Conditions products contain broad spectrum CBD oil. However, organic compounds such as CBD can produce different effects in different people. Your results may vary.

What is a CBD tincture?

A CBD tincture is a preparation made from CBD extract. It is taken by mouth (swallowed) and can also be used in cooking or baking. Our tinctures do not contain any alcohol, unlike many traditional tinctures.

Is it possible to take too much CBD?

CBD is non-toxic. We have never heard of anyone overdosing on CBD. However, extremely large servings of CBD may cause drowsiness.

How much CBD is in your products?

Better Conditions offers some of the most potent CBD products available. However, the amount of CBD in our products varies. Please refer to the product label for exact concentrations of CBD in each product.

What is the ideal serving size?

The ideal serving size of CBD for each person depends on a wide range of variables. It also depends on the product. Servings of 5 to 50 milligrams per day are commonly reported for health maintenance and minor issues.

How often can I take CBD?

CBD can be taken multiple times each day, or at particular times of day, depending on the reason it is being used.

Should I take CBD with food?

Our edible products are best taken with food, although there are usually no issues when taken on an empty stomach. Taking the products with food may help to minimize any potential side effects.

Are there any negative side effects?

CBD is not known to have any negative side effects. However, large servings of CBD may cause drowsiness. If your intention is to remain alert, this may be considered an unwanted side effect and therefore large servings should be avoided.

Can I give my pet CBD and are your products pet-friendly?

The only product we currently offer that is formulated for pets is our CBD Dog Treats. Any other product in our current product line is not pet-friendly. CBD continues to be researched in veterinary studies, but recent studies show that if CBD is THC-free (always check any CBD label for this as well as the third party lab reports), and given in a controlled dose, it has been shown as beneficial to pets in aiding certain health issues like arthritis, inflammation, pain, and anxiety.

What kind of testing/analysis is performed on your products?

All Better Conditions products go through rigorous testing by third-party labs to assure purity and accurate concentrations of cannabinoids. This includes testing to be sure that all of our broad spectrum products are free of THC and any potential contaminants, and our full spectrum products have lab reports that show the small, legal amount of THC (<0.3%).

Do you test for potency, pesticide, heavy metals, and yeast/mold?

Yes. All Better Conditions products go through a rigorous series of tests by third-party labs to ensure purity and accurate concentrations of cannabinoids. This includes testing to be sure that our products are free of THC and any potential contaminants.

Will CBD get me high?

No. Unlike marijuana and THC, CBD is non-psychotropic and is extremely unlikely to cause a high.

Will I need a marijuana card or doctor’s prescription to use CBD products?

No. CBD is not a drug. You will not be required to produce a medical marijuana card in order to purchase CBD online. However, some states have laws allowing doctors to recommend CBD to patients for particular conditions.

Does CBD have a shelf life?

CBD itself does not have an expiration date. However, CBD oil products can degrade and should be used within a certain period of time. They should be stored in airtight containers either in the refrigerator or in a cool place away from direct sunlight. Please refer to the product expiration dates for more information.

How should I store CBD products? Do I need to refrigerate them?

We highly recommend either refrigerating CBD products or storing them in a cool place. Always keep CBD products in airtight containers and store them away from direct sunlight and heat, which can degrade certain compounds in CBD oil.

Will CBD oil show up on a drug test?

Our broad spectrum products have even trace amounts of THC extracted and then verified as THC-Free with third party lab testing. Under normal circumstances, our products are not expected to produce a positive result for THC consumption through testing conducted using industry-standard sophisticated testing methods. It is however possible for a full spectrum CBD product to show up on a drug test since the THC is not extracted from the CBD. Better Conditions can not, and does not represent or warrant as to the results that any individual may experience, and advises you to consider the risks of incorrect detection prior to use of this product.

If you would like to see our third-party labs, just visit our Lab Results page in our top navigation. If you have questions, please contact info@thebetterconditions.com.

Will CBD help me even if I’m healthy?

Because of its ability to help support the body’s effort to maintain homeostasis, CBD is often used by those who don’t have any specific concerns.

Does CBD interact with other medications?

Much more research needs to be done in this area. If you are taking prescription medications, consult with a qualified medical professional.

How long will it take to receive benefits from taking CBD oil?

In some cases, such as when using a tincture, users often report almost immediate results. However, most of the effects of CBD are subtle and take some time to be detectable — usually half an hour or more. Personal results will vary.

What methods of extraction do you use?

All Better Conditions products contain broad spectrum CBD oil produced by a gentle extraction method. This retains the beneficial compounds produced by the cannabis plant. We do not use any harsh solvents in our extraction process.

Where is your hemp grown?

The special strain of hemp used to produce Better Conditions products is grown in the USA.

Is your product organic? Vegan friendly?

Better Conditions hemp is grown using natural methods and our products contain other organic ingredients. All of our products are vegan-friendly except for the softgels and dog treats. We are hoping to introduce a softgel in the future that will be 100% vegan.

I have a gluten allergy. Can I use your products?

Yes. All Better Conditions products are gluten free. We are a family with many allergies, including gluten and dairy allergies, and we use all of these products with no issues.

What is the endocannabinoid system?

The human endocannabinoid system, or ECS, is a system of neurotransmitters and cell membrane receptors. Neurotransmitters such as endocannabinoids are produced by the central nervous system and interact with cannabinoid receptors on cell membranes to adjust physiological processes at a cellular level.

What is the entourage effect?

Broad spectrum CBD oil, such as that used in Better Conditions products, contains a variety of cannabinoids and terpenes as well as other beneficial compounds. Each of the compounds has particular effects on the human body. Because terpenes can affect how the body responds to cannabinoids, the combined effect is often greater than the sum of the individual effects. The overall effect produced is known as the entourage effect. Non-broad or full spectrum products do not have the benefit of the entourage effect and are therefore not recommended.

Is CBD water soluble?

In its natural state, CBD oil is not water soluble. However, our softgels are made using a patented process which encapsulates the CBD oil into nano-sized emulsion particles that are water soluble, allowing the CBD oil to be more easily absorbed.

How do I choose a product that is right for me?

The ideal method for taking CBD depends on the reason for which it’s being taken as well as your preference for its format. If using CBD oil for general wellness, tinctures or capsules are recommended. However, gummies might be preferred for their delicious flavor — it might take a couple of tries to find the perfect products for you. Or if you're like us, you might use a variety of products throughout the day and night.

How does your product differ from others?

Better Conditions products are specifically developed for high potency and easy absorption. All of our products are made with all-natural ingredients, and all of our products are third party lab tested with lab results available on our website 24/7. Our testing ensures that our products are free of heavy metals, alcohol, pesticides, yeast, mold, lead, arsenal, residual solvents, and other potentially harmful contaminants that could reside in CBD if the plants sourcing the CBD are not properly fed and cared for. Our thorough third party lab testing ensure quality, purity, and potency of all our batches. Providing clean & premium CBD is our promise to you. We also use a patented nanoemulsion method to make our CBD softgels water soluble, resulting in a higher bioavailability than standard products. This means your body will absorb the benefits of CBD faster and more effectively.

Our CBD oil is extracted using a gentle process that does not involve harsh solvents that can degrade beneficial compounds. We use only the finest available ingredients in our products and make sure they’re organic whenever possible.

All Better Conditions CBD Oils are now USDA Certified Organic! All products are Organic and Vegan, with the exception of our Softgels which are not yet Vegan. The CBD Dog Treats are also Organic but are not Vegan since they are Bacon & Beef flavored.
